Medicare Savings Act – Ohio Senate Script

Hello {INSERT SENATOR’S NAME},

I’m calling today to ask you to support SB 386, the Medicaid Savings Act in the Ohio State Senate. This bill, introduced by Senator Bill Blessing and Senator Beth Liston, is currently before the Medicaid Committee.

If enacted, it would streamline the administration of Medicaid by reducing reliance on costly middlemen and improving efficiency in how the program is delivered. It is estimated to save Ohio between $450 million and $850 million annually.

We know that more than 11 hospitals in Ohio are at risk of closure in 2027. We need to do everything possible to prevent that from happening.

I’m also asking you to urge Senator Mark Romanchuk, Chair of the Senate Medicaid Committee, to schedule proponent testimony hearings on SB 386 as soon as possible.
