The Ohio Rural Health Association has identified that health insurance is a priority health factor for rural Americans, stating, “Access is influenced by many factors. Insurance status and ratio of health care providers can be such indicators. These indicators suggest rural and Appalachian counties are underserved when it comes to primary care, dental, and mental health services, making health insurance a priority health factor.
