Kamm's Corners - Lorain & Rocky River.
While millions of Ohioans will enjoy relaxing vacations this July, Dave Pavlick will spend his vacation walking across the state of Ohio raising public awareness about the health care crisis and the need to resolve it by adoption of the Health Care For All Ohioans Act. He leaves July 4 and has mapped out a route that will take him from Cleveland to Cincinnati and back by July 27.
The 53-year-old Pavlick is an International Representative of the United Auto Workers for the region that includes all of Ohio. An activist with the Single-Payer Action Network Ohio (SPAN Ohio), he has collected over three thousand signatures to help put the Health Care For All Ohioans Act on the ballot.
A kick-off rally to launch Pavlick’s trip will be held July 4 at 9:00 a.m., immediately before the annual West Park—Kamms Corner (17325 Lorain Ave.) Confirmed speakers include US Rep Dennis Kucinich, State Senator Dale Miller, Cleveland City Council President Martin Sweeney, and State Rep Mike Foley.
The July 4th Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. After the parade concludes, supporters will join Pavlick in walking the first mile of his journey toward Lorain.
Pavlick has trained for the walk over the past several months. He will be welcomed in cities and towns around the state by Regional Chapters of SPAN Ohio, which are helping to coordinate lodging and meals for him along the route. Pavlick will conclude his walk at 7 p.m. on July 27 with a welcoming ceremony on the steps of Cleveland City Hall.
Pavlick will be in Northwest Ohio July 5 thru 10; West Central Ohio July 11 thru 13; Southwest Ohio July 14 thru 17; Central Ohio July 18 thru 23; East Central Ohio July 24 thru 26; and return to Cleveland on July 27.
